'Water' by Jennifer + Michael Kent
Sibling curiosity is at the heart of this first collaboration between Jennifer and Michael Kent (Atelier 8.2). Conversations around the generative potential of the limitations of material and technique were the starting point. This was followed by a process of development where shared interests in framing and architecture met with their more ephemeral environment - reflections, shadows and residue.
Drawings were exchanged between Berlin and Glasgow before being developed into a pattern suitable for knit. The inevitability of nuances occurring when a pattern is translated from one format to another was embraced. Ongoing exposure to each other’s practice has been a valuable element of the learning process and has resulted in the creation of a new lambswool blanket design in three colourways.
